Combat Weight Gain

With the fall season approaching quickly, we look forward to pumpkin spiced everything, tailgating snacks, and family potlucks. While the holiday season brings the opportunity to celebrate with friends and family, this time of year also brings to light how challenging it can be to maintain a healthy lifestyle when surrounded by unhealthy foods.

You may be asking yourself how to lose weight in Springfield Missouri. Whether you are suffering from seasonal weight gain, struggling to lose weight, or have approached a plateau in your weight loss journey there are several things we can consider causes of stalled or failed weight loss ventures.

First, understanding the nutritional value of your food choices is a good starting point. Are you getting enough magnesium in your diet? Do you know how much vitamin A, C, D, and E is in your diet? Simply put, Americans have been overfed and undernourished for a very long time.

In fact, most obese adults are actually malnourished. Sounds crazy, right? However you look at it though, an abundance of calories does not mean delivering an abundance of nutrients that your body desperately needs. Over time, the lack of nourishment translates to a poorly functioning metabolism. So, if you’re wondering why you haven’t been able to lose the weight, it might be time to lose some of your recent food options.

As you begin to choose healthier food options, your next step is to evaluate your gut health. By healing and then strengthening the lining of your gut, you can absorb and process the nutrients that you are now giving your body. There are several ways to cultivate healthy gut bacteria including eating whole, unprocessed foods, eating good fats, supplement wisely with inflammation-reducing vitamins and a probiotic and add fiber-rich food to promote and support healthy bacteria in your gut. We also know that diabetes and obesity are inflammatory problems. Fat cells produce inflammatory molecules that perpetuate weight gain. Food allergies (such as gluten, dairy or corn) trigger inflammation in our bodies which create insulin resistance which promotes weight gain.

Along with a healthy diet and exercise, we understand that there is a point when a kick start to your weight loss journey is necessary. KARE Health and Wellness offers a comprehensive medical weight loss program which involves diagnostic lab testing, monthly accountability and nutritional education on how to lose weight. We can help you get to and address the root cause of your weight struggles. Weight gain is simply a symptom of an underlying root cause. Our job at KARE Health and Wellness is to help you identify the root cause, provide solutions, and put you on a course for long-term healthy weight management – and in turn, you will become more successful at maintaining a healthy weight and living a healthier life.
